CALL FOR SUBMISSION OF GOOD PRACTICES

Share your good practices in supporting women entrepreneurs

WEgate and its community of women entrepreneurs needs your wisdom, skills and resources, so get involved now

The WEgate community is the European WE community of practice, that focuses on engaging a growing and diverse number of stakeholders supporting women entrepreneurs across Europe. The main objective of the WEgate community is to enhance WE by facilitating networking, peer-learning and sharing good practices between actors in order to improve the support effectively delivered to women entrepreneurs and to motivate more women to start their business or to support the development of their business across Europe. At the same time, contributing to the public policy processes for improving WE-related conditions, advocating and representing the interests of the women entrepreneurs in front of WE-related institutions and relevant stakeholders.

Why partner on women entrepreneurship development?

The strength of the WEgate community lies on the vast experience of its members. Promoting the partnering around the topic of WE development is a question of efficiency and doing what we as WEgate members do best. Joining efforts means achieving better impact and building momentum to support women’s empowerment. Finally, sustainability is to hard to achieve alone.

WEgate offers an ideal environment for the transferability of good practice because: a) the community members have a common objective – supporting WE, and b) they have a common platform to sharing good practices (i.e. the WEgate e-platform).

With this call for submission of good practices, WEgate aims to facilitate the process of surfacing good practices within the community with a potential for replication and transferability. More concretely, we aim to:

  • Gain insight into WE initiatives: Exploring what initiatives are learning and reflecting on from practical experience.
  • Strengthen practice: Focusing on reaching scale and effective uptake and facilitation approaches.
  • Strengthen coordination: Building awareness of other initiatives / WE practices /strategies that it would be beneficial to coordinate with.
  • Strengthen collaboration: Building relationships among WEgate community members, incentivizing improved collaboration.
  • Strengthen a culture of learning: Building relationships and demonstrating practical benefits of sharing.

What is a good practice?

Good practice is a process, initiative or working method that has proved successful to a) meet the needs of the women entrepreneurs or to b) optimise the operational performance of the WE stakeholders. Good practice is practically a successful response, developed by the WEgate community members, to address different challenges in WE development, ranging from policy development, promotion of WE, capacity building, through services for women entrepreneurs, to intra-organisational tools for improved operational performance.

Access to new markets: Textile company IST Komerc Sanda expanding to the British market

IST KOMERC – SANDA is one of the leading textile producers in the country. Established in 1991 as a producer of women tights and other textile products under private labeling, the company is known as one of the few in the branch that continuously follows the fashion trends in the field while addressing the needs and desires of its clients. The company became an Enterprise Europe Network client in 2018 as a result of the local cooperation between the Macedonian network branch and the Textile cluster, an important local stakeholder of the network. In particular, with the support of the network’s sector group on textile and fashion, the company got in touch with several potential business partners from abroad. One such company was The Milky Tee Company Ltd, a British company specialized in the production of comfortable, practical and stylish clothes for easier breastfeeding.

The two companies established successful cooperation on the creation and manufacturing on a new and unique design of a t-shirt with hidden zipper, made according to the highest quality standards and textile requirements. It is expected for the cooperation to continue in the future as well, and to involve design of new models of clothing to be placed on the British market, but also on the wider European market.

Enterprise Europe Network enabled us to get in touch with potential partners from all over Europe. I would like to highlight the benefits from using the network’s mobile app “Ino Biz where we can easily find all relevant events and partnering profiles from our branch. The network has largely facilitated our efforts for accessing new markets which is one of the main development goals of our company, stated Mrs. Marijana Perkovska, director of the IST Komerc – Sanda.

Launched Mobile Application for Business Opportunities “InoBiz”

The free mobile application “InoBiz” has been created, which aims to help Macedonian companies in finding foreign partners for business cooperation, technology transfer and participation in research and development projects. This application was developed as part of the project “Enhancing competitiveness of SMEs through improved innovation support” implemented by the Foundation for management and industrial research (MIR).

Companies through the mobile application will be kept up to date with all developments in the field of innovation and technological development, will receive announcements about open calls for funding, requests from foreign companies for cooperation as well as opportunities for participation in conferences and networking events. In addition, the application contains a resource center that will offer to the companies useful content for raising their innovation capacities as well as an opportunity to assess the degree of technological readiness through the Technology self-assessment tool.

The project “Enhancing competitiveness of SMEs through improved innovation support” is funded by the European Union and implemented by the Youth Entrepreneurial Youth Foundation (YES) in partnership with MIR Foundation and ARC Fund from Bulgaria, and aims to contributed to the creation of a strong innovation climate in the country by promoting the concept of innovative businesses.

The mobile application is available for Android and iPhone mobile phones and can be downloaded from the following links:
